New to Perl, with no formal training (that'll be obvious!), and while I won't use it every day, there will be times when I need to take an existing s‎crip‎t (GNU/GPL or one I paid for...) and hack it a bit to make it do something differently, or something new. I'm not young, but with lifelong learning, and what not... I be honest that I joined to ask for help. Not sure I will ever be able to give much, unless it's an issue very close to something I've done, and I can show how I handled it. The more detail the better, I think, so I will apologize now if any requests get wordy. I've found many useful things on this page, and I only hope some of the PerlMonks will find it beneficial to their Karma to help a lost soul such as me, who has walked into a busy city and seen that there are many, many paths to reach it. I like the path of least resistance, usually. Easier to just pay for more powerful server and run a more cumbersome code if it's easy and reliable... On the other hand, I am here to learn how to be efficient. :-)
