When you're thanking someone, wouldn't it make more sense to reply to their node, rather than to your own?

I count two nodes whose authors the OP may be thanking. It may simply be a way of thanking both without writing two nodes. (See also The Parable of the Old Man, The Boy, and The Donkey.)
